Finally I'm Crocheting a Christmas Stocking

Since last year, I have wanted to crochet a Christmas Stocking. I even bought some yarn last fall, but it has languished in my stash. So once again, I am browsing patterns for stockings.

Here is a great tutorial for a simple stocking by Crochet Crowd. It includes simplified diagrams for short row heels.

Here is one called Tree of Light stocking. I'm not much of a cross stitcher, but some of you may be.

However, this is the one I think I will make. It is from Red Heart, and they have five pages of really clever home decor items for Christmas.

Tradition!

July 6--What is a holiday tradition you have in your family?

Some "traditions" in our family change as the members mature. For example, who used to make the Thanksgiving pies? Why, me, of course. That is until Molly turned about 15, then she started making them all. And it's become a new tradition.

Here's Molly, meditating on pie baking. J/K

Some traditions branch out. For example, my husband and I started having St. Patrick's Day parties together before we were even married. They were so popular that we didn't even advertise. It was like, "Hey, it's March 17. Better head over to Murph's for the party." Now that Colin is on his own, he has become the new Murph.

Win Bernat Yarn on AllFree Crochet

I am enamored with this Bernat Mosaic Yarn. The color changes just flow one into another. I've seen various items knit with this yarn, and if I win this giveaway, I am going to crochet something gorgeous. Maybe a shawl---what's new, I always crochet shawls when I'm not crocheting Mug Hugs or Yoga Socks. Or I could do three scarves or cowls. Cowls are so popular these days. Christmas is coming...

If you are interested in entering this giveaway, it is posted on AllFree Crochet. You can enter once a day. I'd wish you "Good Luck", he he, but I want to win! All in fun.
