...Would be just 2kute. A crafter with various loves, she has focused on her crochet and even in designing her own patterns. Let her tell you her story.
Cozy Corner Crochets: What are the names and addresses of your Pages, Blogs, and/or Shops
Rose Kute: 2kutekreations, also known as 2kute
CCC: What is your primary craft
RK: Crochet
CCC: What materials do you work with
RK: I work with organic natural fibers such as cotton, wool, bamboo. I do also work with acrylic.
CCC: How did you get started and where do you see yourself headed
RK: Back in 2004 I was bedridden due to chronic illnesses and a stroke. I was bored out of my mind, unable to do much of anything. I started to watch the HGTV channel---at the time they showed Carol Duvall show. She got me inspired. I started making cards, then decided to teach myself to crochet. In 2008 my children talked me into opening an online shop.
I want to expand, have more ready to ship items. I am an one woman business so there’s only so much I can do. I hope I can do some craft fairs when I move to NC.
CCC: Where do you get your ideas
RK: Everywhere. My mind is always on alert mode. I see a flower, or a catalogue, pictures from professional photographers, really anything. Sometimes it is a commercial on TV, I see 2-3 colors together and my mind immediately sees those colors in a hat or baby booties.
CCC: What fuels your passion
RK: I feel I have received a gift and I must share it with others. When I make an item, a piece of me goes with it.
CCC: How much time each day do you spend on your craft
RK: If I could, I would spend all day crocheting. However housework and other boring stuff gets in the way. I would say I spend about 3-4 hours on any given day. On weekends I spend about 8 hours/day.
CCC: What would you tell someone just starting out
RK: Be patient. It does not happen overnight. Have great customer service, reply to emails and messages within 24 hours. Mostly, don’t give up, don’t ever give up.
CCC: What gets in the way of you pursuing your dream
RK: My health.
CCC: Who is someone you would like to have dinner with
RK: oh that is an easy one, Charles Billingsley :)
CCC: What do you do to relax and have fun
RK: When in FL, I crochet. When in NC, I sit by a creek and soak my feet.
CCC: Do you have a favorite crafter that inspires you
RK: Yes. Snappy Tots, Loops of love, Crazysocks crochet...I am sure I forgot someone.
CCC: What did you do “in your other life”
RK: I was an ENT nurse prior to having the first stroke in 2003.
CCC: Is there anything else you would like to share about yourself
RK: I am just the average person who was struck with some chronic health issues that prevent me from doing my ‘former’ life work. I was blessed with creativity and the passion for crocheting.
I currently live in FL but dream in moving to the Smoky Mountains in the western part of NC.
